Legal

Effective date: July 20, 2026

1 · Disclaimer

We want you cooking with confidence — so here’s the honest fine print, in plain words.

Plate Planner helps you plan meals. It does not give medical, nutritional, or health advice.

By using Plate Planner, you accept that all content is provided for general informational purposes only, “as is,” and that you use it at your own risk.

2 · Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Plate Planner (“we,” “us”). By accessing or using plateplanner.ai or any related app or feature (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Plate Planner is operated from the United States, is intended for users 18 or older, and is currently free to use.

2.1 Who may use the Service

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

2.2 What Plate Planner is — and is not

The Service helps you plan meals and view AI-generated recipes and estimated nutrition information. It is an informational and organizational tool only. It does not provide medical, nutritional, dietary, or health advice, and it is no substitute for a qualified professional. We make no promise that the Service will produce any particular health, weight, or nutrition outcome. You agree to the Disclaimer above, which is part of these Terms.

2.3 AI-generated and estimated content

Recipes, instructions, ingredient lists, images, and all nutrition values (including calories, macronutrients, and sodium) are produced by automated AI systems and are estimates. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or unsuitable for your needs. You are solely responsible for independently verifying any information before relying on it, including checking ingredients for allergens and confirming food safety.

2.4 Your account

If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login secure and for all activity under it. Tell us promptly at support@plateplanner.ai if you suspect unauthorized use. You may delete your account at any time.

You can use much of the Service without an account. In that case your plans and settings live only in your browser’s storage on that device — clearing your browser data or losing the device deletes them, and we cannot recover them. An account exists to keep your plans and sync them across devices.

2.5 Your responsibilities and acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

2.6 Who owns what

2.7 Community, sharing, and public links

Some features are built for sharing, and only work if shared content can be shown to others:

2.8 Intellectual property

The Service itself — its design, code, branding, and original content, including its AI-generated recipes and images (§2.6) — belongs to Plate Planner and is protected by law. You may use the Service for your personal, non-commercial meal planning, and share its content as §2.6 allows. You may not copy, resell, or redistribute the Service or its content beyond that.

2.9 Third-party services

The Service runs on third-party providers (for example, hosting, authentication, email, security, and AI/image generation). We are not responsible for those providers’ acts, outages, or content, and their terms may also apply to you.

2.10 Retailer links, affiliate commissions, and donations

Buttons that send your grocery list to a retailer (or link to products) take you to third-party sites we don’t control — check prices, ingredients, and availability there. Some of those links may be affiliate links, meaning Plate Planner may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never influence which recipes or ingredients the AI suggests. Donations (for example via Ko-fi) are voluntary gifts, are not payment for goods or services, and are non-refundable.

2.11 No warranties

The Service and all content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that any recipe, nutrition figure, or other content is accurate, complete, safe, reliable, or suitable for you, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions; in that case, those exclusions apply to the fullest extent permitted.

2.12 Assumption of risk

Cooking, dietary changes, and reliance on nutrition information carry inherent risks. You knowingly and voluntarily assume all risk arising from your use of the Service, including any allergic reaction, illness, injury, or health outcome.

2.13 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Plate Planner and anyone associated with it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including any harm related to recipes, nutrition estimates, allergens, food safety, or health decisions — even if we were advised such damages were possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $50. Some jurisdictions limit these exclusions; where that applies, our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.

2.14 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Plate Planner from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.

2.15 Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access at any time, including for violating these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive (disclaimers, warranty exclusions, liability limits, indemnity, and governing law) survive termination.

2.16 Changes to the Service or Terms

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service, and we may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date and, where appropriate, give notice. Continuing to use the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

2.17 Governing law and disputes

Talk to us first — most problems are fixable in one email. Before filing any claim, you agree to email support@plateplanner.ai with a description of the dispute and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court instead.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in California have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to venue there, unless your local consumer-protection law gives you rights that cannot be waived.

2.18 Miscellaneous

If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Our not enforcing a provision isn’t a waiver. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (such as outages, disasters, or acts of third parties). If you send us feedback or ideas, thank you — we may use them freely, without obligation. You may not transfer these Terms; we may assign them as part of a business transfer that honors them.

3 · Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what Plate Planner (“we,” “us”) collects and how we use it. We’ve kept Plate Planner deliberately lean: we do not run advertising or third-party tracking, and we do not sell your personal information.

3.1 Information we collect

Beyond the meal-planning settings described above, please don’t enter medical records, diagnoses, or anything else you wish to keep private — the Service only needs food-level preferences to do its job.

3.2 How we use information

We use your information only to:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3.3 Service providers we rely on

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the Service, who process data only to provide their service to us:

These providers have their own privacy practices; we share only what’s needed for them to perform their function.

3.4 How we share information

We share information only: with the service providers above; to comply with law or a valid legal request; to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, the public, or Plate Planner; or in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or sale), in which case we’ll honor this Policy. We do not sell your data. Content you deliberately share into the community library or via a public link is visible to others as described in §2.7 of the Terms — always without your name, email, or health settings.

3.5 Data retention

We keep your account and meal-planning data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period, except where we must keep something to comply with the law or resolve disputes.

3.6 Your choices and rights

You can:

Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have additional rights to access, delete, correct, or limit the use of your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. To make a request, email support@plateplanner.ai. We will not sell or “share” your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

3.7 Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (including authentication and access controls through our providers) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

3.8 Children’s privacy

The Service is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

3.9 International users

We operate from the United States, and your information is processed there. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information will be handled under U.S. law, which may differ from your local law.

3.10 Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy. We’ll change the effective date above and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Continuing to use the Service means you accept the updated Policy.
